THE 5-Cent tarot
The 5-cent Tarot is a completely different take on traditional tarot. I wanted to create a fun and whimsical deck loosely inspired by Victorian era poster art. Using vintage images and remnants of biological and botanical ephemera, this deck also incorporates keywords in both the upright and reverse positions. There are no people in this deck, but animals and insects with sometimes human accessories and elements. The compositions also employ the symbolism from traditional tarot and are therefore, RWS-adjacent. Here, however, pentacles are buttons, swords are needles, wands are matchsticks and cups are teacups. Please feel free to contact me with feedback and comments!
Beware of counterfeits! The 5-cent tarot design, an original creation of mine, has now been ripped off, counterfeited and sold across the entire internet and there really is nothing I can do about it. Consequently, the Etsy shop's sales have dropped over 75% in the past year. While I can't stop anyone from purchasing the fakes, I can offer this warning -- I bought two of them myself and they are really terrible poor quality decks. They are about half the size of the original deck, with poor paper quality, a cheap shiny finish (yuck!) and disposable paper tuck box (no hard clamshell!) no color edges, no color choices, no lined pouch (no pouch at all!) and no guidebook, just a qr code that links to my own page. I'm saddened but not beaten and trust that all the true tarot enthusiasts in the community will not support them. Just a note of caution to anyone who though they were getting an unbelievable deal, they are not.
